Dear Chris,
Several months ago I started looking into replacing my 25 year old air conditioner before the 2019
cooling season started. I requested bids from three mechanical contractors in the Reading area.
My brother in-law, Greg Kline, from Kline Construction suggested I request a bid from Gehringer
Mechanical.
Chris when you came to my home to walk down the project I felt that I would be dealing with a
knowledgeable company. From previous discussions with the other contractors it was determined that my existing oil fired furnace (3 ton capacity) installed in 2009 was undersize for my home and the
existing original air conditioner (5 ton capacity) were not compatible consequently the basis for my third floor heating and cooling problems.
You provided four alternative installations that included a larger capacity oil fired furnace and a new (5
ton) air conditioning system.
I selected the Carrier "Better" Option that included a Wifi Thermostat and then we then set up an
installation schedule for April 1, 2 and 3.
Your Technician's Jim and Todd arrived the first day on time as scheduled. I was impressed that they
immediately put protective coated paper on my Foyer and Kitchen floors to protect them during demo
and installation activities.
On the first day they disconnected the original furnace, and carried it to my garage to be donated to my brother in-law for his wood working shop. The new furnace was uncrated and carried to my basement.
The new furnace is larger than the original furnace however Jim and Todd work carefully to move the
new furnace to the basement without an incident. They also disconnected the original air conditioner
outside and removed it for disposal.
By the end of the first day the new furnace and tie in ducts were installed. I had an operating system
once again. Happy customer as they promised I would be back in service the same day.
Day two the new air conditioner was installed outside with the connecting refrigerant lines without any
issues. In addition two cold air return ducts were rerouted and all cold air ducts were sealed to improve the operation of the new system as designed by you Chris. It was greatly appreciated.
The third day the entire system went through a start-up and test sequence including a walk-down of all supply registers through-out the entire house (three floors) to balance the system.
I would recommend Gehringer Mechanical to anyone especially Jim and Todd who were very
knowledgeable, professional and courteous to me the home owner.
Thanks again for your service
